Carla Blackmon

Carla is a Virginia native, born in Arlington, Va and grew up in Woodbridge.  Carla started pet sitting in Elementary school for neighbors and friends and continued until today.  Carla’s lifelong goal was to become a Veterinarian.  She has a Bachelor’s Degree from Ferrum College in Pre-Veterinary Medicine.  She has worked throughout Va at countless veterinary practices as a veterinary technician/veterinary assistant over the last 20 years.  After graduating college and working in the veterinary field of emergency medicine, Carla began to focus on animal behavior.  She was hired by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as an Animal Plant Health Inspection System (APHIS), Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) Canine Officer in San Francisco, CA.

 

Meet Our Head Trainer/Owner – Carla Blackmon.

Carla has an extensive background in animal behavior, training and animal care. She completed the Dog Trainer Professional course with the Karen Pryor Academy and is on her way to become a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA). Carla has over 20 years of various animal related experience and education that she uses to formulate a customized training plan for your family and pets. Her background includes experience working for a variety of local and national veterinarians as a veterinary assistant/technician, a federal canine handler, a master’s student apprentice dog guide instructor, and currently the owner of FurEver Family, LLC. She utilizes all of her skills to provide a pet friendly, holistic training plan incorporating health, environment, personality, and family needs.
Carla will create a training plan that is fun and easy for all who are involved.
